Cursa patriarhilor

O cursă pentru Patriarhia României nu vezi în fiecare zi. Ca şi alegerea Papei, ea se întâmplă o dată la zece, douăzeci sau chiar treizeci de ani, foarte rar se repetă în deceniul în care a mai avut loc o alegere. Şi stăruie aici nişte concluzii de tras. în primul rând, eu am rămas cu ceva stupoare pe buze: cum de, ştiind că e pasibil de oarece acuze dinspre partea CNSAS, Bartolomeu Anania a acceptat să candideze? Cum suntem o ţară în care totul/toate transpiră, era de aşteptat ca Sinodul să audă totuşi, discret, ceva vorbe de la CNSAS, pe firul scurt al unor scurgeri – şi să spună: dacă îl alegem pe Anania, s-ar putea să avem o problemă. Aşa că, mai bine, au evitat o nouă querelă… Analizând, totuşi, candidaţii şi direcţiile, cred că e mai bine că alegerea a fost Daniel.

De ce? Păi, alegând Daniel, s-a ales deschiderea. S-a ales, într-un secol în care toate lucrurile se renovează, se modernizează, se oferă către lume, calea dialogului cu alte confesiuni. Nici nu se putea altfel. Să stai să lâncezeşti în propria ta condiţie trufindu-te că aşa faci cel mai bine e un semn de mentalitate retrogradă. Pot înţelege, însă, şi cealaltă alegere, cea a căii tradiţionale, ortodoxia pură & puritană. Dar când? Atunci când fiinţa ortodoxiei sau fiinţa naţională sunt, fie una ori alta, ameninţate. Şi sunt ele? Nu. Bine, aşa, „primejdii virtuale” ne pândesc la tot pasul. Dar nu e o ameninţare iminentă, voită, violentă, clară. Bartolomeu Anania era considerat şi foarte vârstnic, deşi, cine ştie, poţi cunoaşte voinţa lui Dumnezeu? El poate să îşi întărească patriarhul pentru următorii zece ani, chiar dacă acela a trecut peste 85 de ani. Da, cu condiţia să existe o misiune specifică. Pe de altă parte, faptul că s-a fost ales Daniel nu face decât să confirme perseverenţa Bisericii în a păstra tradiţia şi a nu o sminti. Este neîndoios că şi Teofan este o personalitate angelică, una care, după câte mi-au ajuns la urechi, aproape merge pe nori, atât de imaculat pare ca om. Ar fi meritat să fie capul Bisericii Române Ortodoxe.

Dar el e mai tânăr şi, cine ştie, poate nu e cu totul trecut, cu totul imposibil. în fond, nu ne putem aroga noi ştiinţa Planului Divin… Până la urmă, înţeleaptă s-a dovedit şi decizia CNSAS de a amâna, prin stratagema lipsei de cvorum, acea arătare cu degetul a celor care au avut ceva în clin sau în mâneci cu aparatul represiv al Securităţii. Ar fi scos nişte combatanţi din cursă, poate chiar cazul lui Anania. Aşa, poate, lucrurile s-au triat singure, înăuntrul Sinodului, scutind Biserica de ruşini şi leziuni de imagine. Este de aşteptat/de crezut că Anania a fost favoritul scriitorilor şi intelectualilor români, dar, ca şi în cursa prezidenţială, intrarea sa a fost tardivă. Rămâne ca o remarcă întrebătoare şi usturătoare în acelaşi timp faptul că, uneori, Daniel nu a fost susţinut de ai săi, adică de o parte dintre ieşeni sau (chiar) clerici moldoveni.

Acuza, adusă încă o dată, a fost un fel de nu ne vindem ţara, cu extensie acum la credinţă: nu ne vindem ortodoxia! Cel mai potrivit, după Daniel, a fost nu Bartolomeu Anania, ci Teofan. Salutară – şi sublimă! – renunţarea lui la dreptul de a revendica jilţul care, poate, i s-ar fi cuvenit. Ca un semn al renunţării nu la Biserică, ci, cumva, la cele lumeşti ale Bisericii. îi rămâne lui Daniel, în primul rând, şansa purificării Bisericii Ortodoxe Române. A celor, dinăuntru, cumva maculaţi. Ca o şansă unică, nu a trecerii prin foc, ci prin spirit.
