În urmă cu vreo câteva săptămâni, am primit prin e-mail înştiinţarea că am câştigat 122.038,95 euro la Loteria Quinigol.
Mi-am zis imediat: ce farsă mai e şi asta? N-am mai jucat la Loto de nu mai ştiu când, şi, în nici un caz, la o Loterie cu nume exotic. Să câştigi fără să joci mi se pare culmea norocului. Nu e de mine. Dar am început să fac investigaţii. Am descoperit pe internet Loteria cu pricina – e reală, din Cadiz, şi are o activitate onorabilă. Am cercetat cu mai multă atenţie e-mail-ul primit. În afara unor greşeli gramaticale – pe care le puteam pune pe seama necunoaşterii perfecte a limbii române de către funcţionarii spanioli – nimic nu părea suspect. Apariţia unui program internaţional computerizat care să încurajeze folosirea intensivă a internetului suna credibil. Alegerea adresei mele de e-mail – care e publică – şi introducerea ei într-o bază de date din care să se facă extragerea era şi ea verosimilă. Suspiciunile au apărut în clipa în care am aflat ce demersuri trebuie să fac pentru a obţine premiul. Mi se cereau mai multe date personale precum şi informaţii legate de contul în care doream să mi se vireze banii. Chestionarul trebuia să fie trimis prin fax, însoţit de o copie după buletin sau paşaport.
Ca autor de romane poliţiste, am fost curios să văd unde va duce povestea asta. Cu zece euro mi-am creat un cont la o bancă – dacă era vorba de nişte hackeri să aibă şi ei de o bere pentru efortul depus. Dar n-am mai completat chestionarul. Am mai colindat pe internet cu mai multă răbdare. Am descoperit vreo zece alţi câştigători la Loteria Quinigol. Toţi aveau acelaşi bilet ca şi mine. M-am simţit dezamăgit – o minimă decenţă cerea autorilor acestei tentative de înşelăciune să mai schimbe câte ceva, pe ici, pe colo, prin punctele esenţiale. Ar fi fost un semn de respect pentru viitorii păgubiţi.
De fapt, miza celor care au trimis probabil sute sau mii de astfel de e-mail-uri nu este golirea unor conturi. Sau nu numai asta. Copiile după actele de identitate sunt mai valoroase pentru ei. Cu ajutorul lor şi cu sprijinul unor complici din vreo bancă pot să ia, de pildă, credite. În loc să încasezi 122.038,95 euro, te poţi pomeni că ai de achitat un apartament pe care nu l-ai văzut niciodată.
Nu mă interesează cine a pus la cale escrocheria asta – vreun căpşunar care s-a săturat de truda la stăpân. Până la urmă o să i se înfunde. Eu îi mulţumesc pentru că mi-a livrat un subiect de editorial – altfel ar fi trebuit să implor muza pentru a mă inspira să scriu despre alegerile locale – ce sujet palpitant! M-a impresionat însă această solidaritate a internauţilor care au lansat de urgenţă semnale de avertisment astfel încât nimeni să nu cadă pradă unei iluzii de îmbogăţire fără muncă. Şi o întrebare mă frământă: oare Loteria Quinigol ştie ce se petrece sub paravanul ei? Eu, unul, am să încerc să-i avertizez.

I must say, as considerably as I enjoyed reading what you had to say, I couldnt help but lose interest after a while. Its as if you had a good grasp around the subject matter, but you forgot to include your readers. Perhaps you should think about this from far more than 1 angle.
