Revista Flacăra s-a gândit prima la acest bilanţ: şase luni de UE. De aici derivă o altă întrebare: cum vor arăta următoarele şase luni? Unii ar putea spune, ritos, că, în primul rând, următorul semicerc al anului va fi dependent de scena politică internă. Şi, chiar aşa, cum a arătat scena politică internă în aceste prime şase luni? Ca o tocană politică, un terci al orgoliilor.
Tăriceanu, adică primul-ministru, şi-a sumeţit orgoliile. Dan Voiculescu a avut un singur obiectiv: să persuadeze comisia de suspendare a lui Traian Băsescu că preşedintele merită cu adevărat suspendat. Apoi, acea alianţă contra naturii, PNL-PSD, care a continuat să urzească firele fragilului suport subteran de care a avut nevoie Guvernul. La rândul său, Călin Popescu Tăriceanu a avut şi el două etape: cea anti-Băsescu, în care s-a preocupat pe orice căi să arunce preşedintele din şaua Cotrocenilor, iar a doua – în care a încercat, cu disperare, să îşi conserve, post-referendum, poziţia. în tot acest timp, UE a fost aproape invizibilă. Românii nu au simţit-o deloc, cu excepţia absenţei vizelor – vezi euforia de final şi început de an – şi a ruperii de Basarabia. Nu s-au întâmplat evenimente notabile. Doar clauza de salvgardare ce a mai fost agitată niţeluş. Nu s-au simţit uşurări ale nivelului de trai şi, pe de altă parte, Europa nu a năvălit peste noi în nici un fel. Nici măcar turiştii. Preţurile n-au sărit atât de mult încât să devină sufocante. A fost o acalmie. Una generală. Un fel de perioadă de tatonare. La rândul ei, nici Europa nu a avut mari seisme. Vreme liniştită. Discuţii palide despre următoarele candidate la aderare, luări principiale de poziţie.
Nici Bulgaria nu a resimţit vreun şoc. în afară de faptul că am auzit că la localităţile de graniţă de dincolo cu frontiera ungurească se pot cumpăra case cu 15.000 de euro. Şi câte un prieten ne-a zis, în răstimpuri: Hei, nu tragem o fugă până la Ruse, să facem niscaiva cumpărături ieftine? loc emoţii, loc, deocamdată, şoc postaderare. Pensionarilor, cărora le era teamă că or să moară de foame, nu li s-a întâmplat nimic: şi-au luat pensia pe răboj, mică şi tristă. Euro, moneda europeană, s-a depreciat lentamente, în raportul cu leul, la Bucureşti, aşa că a fost vreme de încredere în moneda naţională. Vreme de luat credite în euro, în special ipotecare. S-au construit locuinţe, condominiumuri, într-o frenezie, cu toate acestea preţul la terenuri a urcat.
Mare stabilitate n-a fost nici în Bulgaria, nici la noi, dimpotrivă, haos, derută, confuzie, relaţii politice încâlcite. N-au venit nici spectrele celor prăpăstioşi: cutremurele, războiul, calamităţile. Tot ceea ce ne-a preocupat mai mult a fost încălzirea globală. Spre începutul verii, abia mai pâlpâiau ştiruţe mici pe cablurile agenţiilor de presă. Românii au fost atenţi la campionatul de fotbal, s-au amuzat de performanţele bahice ale lui Nicolas Sarkozy, proaspăt preşedinte al Franţei. Axa Bucureşti-Londra-Washington a fost sublimă, admirabilă, dar cu desăvârşire absentă, fiind atât de invizibilă încât nimeni nu şi-a mai adus aminte de ea. Lupta anti-corupţie a dispărut cu totul. Reforma în justiţie a stagnat pe culmi nebănuite.
A fost un fel de păruială de cartier, de genul „Băsescu şi restul lumii”. Ne-am regăsit incapabili de a ne concentra în linişte la ceea ce avem noi de făcut (cât om avea!) în Europa. Am fost atât de plictisiţi încât nici chiar top- modelele n-au mai preocupat pe nimeni. Cea mai mare dezbatere publică a fost dată de întrebarea fundamentală pentru viitorul României: ne calificăm sau nu la Campionatul European de Fotbal de la anul care vine?
