S-a discutat şi se va mai discuta despre acel logo buclucaş, lansat la Expoziţia Mondială de la Shanghai, pentru a-i îndemna pe turiştii străini să descopere „Grădina Carpaţilor“ care e România. Dar, poate, problema e alta.

Duminică, 8 august, înainte de orele prânzului, mă îndreptam spre Pârâul Rece, venind de la Râșnov. Căldură deja sufocantă, chiar dacă pădurile nu erau departe. Șoseaua, pe alocuri peticită, nu îngăduia o viteză prea mare. Și, la un moment dat, mașina în care mă aflam cu mai mulți colegi a ajuns în urma altei mașini. Până aici, nimic neobișnuit. Dintr-odată, însă, ne-am pomenit într-un coșmar, într-un film horror. Fiindcă de bara din spate a autoturismului pe care îl ajunsesem era legat cu o funie un cal. Murgul se căznea să se țină după vehiculul care înainta cu vreo douăzeci de kilometri la oră. Nu mai avea nimic din splendoarea pe care o admirăm la una dintre cele mai frumoase creaturi de pe Pământ. Cu ochii ieșiți din orbite de spaimă, cu gâtul întins, numai spume, de-abia se putea ține pe picioarele care i se mișcau dezordonat. Copitele îi alunecau pe asfalt, mușchii i se încordau nefiresc, în orice clipă fiind amenințat să se răstoarne și să devină o masă însângerată de carne. Merită, oare, să vii în vizită la un popor capabil de astfel de acte de barbarie?
