Una dintre minunăţiile fascinante ale Limenariei (portul mare), spre deosebire de Limenas (portul mic), este pescăria din colţul străzii noastre. În colţ se găseşte un transformator de înaltă tensiune, pe care îl luăm ca punct de reper, în peregrinările noastre în oraş – şi de-a lungul ţărmului.
Transformatoare de înaltă tensiune întâlneşti peste tot pe insulă, această insulă Thassos, cea mai nordică din toate ale Greciei. Seamănă cu cele din copilăria mea. Mi-l şi-nchipui zumzăind, ca un stup – şi fermecându-mă cu acel neîncetat bâzâit. Vis-à-vis de el se află pescăria, iar pescăria are creveţi. Roşii. Rozalii. Strălucind ca nişte raci. Perpelindu-se. Are cod proaspăt, din care Nicoleta, una bucată soţie (a noastră) aflată pe inventar, a hotărât să ne prepare ceva delicios. Şi a reuşit. Are şi nişte peşti verzi, de mare. Cu o crustă strălucind ca platoşa unei muşte obraznice. Are calamari. Uhu, iar de ăştia, pe bune, mi-e poftă! Pescăria e un magazin obişnuit: o dugheană în cel mai pur stil grecesc. Cu vreo cinci sau şase galantare. Ele stau veşnic goale, asta până vine marfa. Şi marfa vine, de obicei, dis-de-dimineaţă. Dacă ajungi târziu, nu mai prinzi nimic. Te lingi, doar, pe bot. Târziu înseamnă după ceasurile două din amiază.
Am plecat în Thassos împreună cu agenţia de turism GAD TOUR (pe site, www.gadtour.ro, puteţi afla mai multe), cu autocarul. Nu facem mai mult de 18 ore, iar circuitul spre cea mai nordică insulă grecească e presărat cu peripeţii & privelişti. Nu e o excursie scumpă, bugetul deplasării (de aproximativ 9 zile) se ridică la câteva sute de euro. De la Kavala sau Keramoti treci cu ferry-boat-ul spre Thassos, chestie care te costă 8 euro de cap (vesel) de excursionist. Deliciul feribotului este hrănitul pescăruşilor cu firimituri şi bucăţele de pâine. O dată ajuns pe insulă, începi să redescoperi tărâmul primordial, înconjurat de ape. La Limenaria, staţia-terminus, ai ocazia să vizitezi vechea cetate Kastro, aflată pe deal. Superbă, de altfel – şi căutată, deopotrivă, de turişti germani şi englezi.
Mitul insulei
Să redescoperi o insulă. În cazul nostru Thassos (traseul „info-trip“-ului nostru prin Grecia a cuprins Kavala-Keramoti- Thassos-Prino-Limenaria-Potos-Limenas). Să îţi alegi o insulă. Să o vezi pentru prima dată – sau să o revezi pe îndelete. Cu răbdare. Să explorezi micile ei localităţi. Micile aşezări (fatalmente) pescăreşti. Să cumperi peşte, creveţi, cod, ton, caracatiţă, direct de la pescari. Să descoperi viaţa ascunsă a insulei, cu bătrâni (tradiţional) îmbrăcaţi în negru, încondeiaţi (înrămaţi? asortaţi?) de musteţe mari – şi pălării vechi, care să ţie umbră. Cu mici locante şi taverne, unde poţi servi un ţoi, poţi altoi o cinzeacă (ouzo). Să întâlneşti prăvălii de vinuri, ţinute de moşi morocănoşi, evadaţi de la muppetsi. Octava mică a aventurii, arpegiul ei minor. Să fugăreşti, prin apă, meduze de culoarea algelor brune. Mitul insulei, cu norii ei cumulus. Nimbus. De lumină. Mit al autarhiei. Al tihnei, al apei de topaz – şi al plajei, îndeajuns lor înşile.
Golden Beach
Autocarul te lasă la câteva sute de metri de plajă. Totuşi, aveam să mergem peste treisferturi de oră până la „locul ideal“. Am traversat, practic, toată plaja. Pe jos. Prin apă. Cu pantalonii suflecaţi. Să mă fi văzut, măcar. Trecând prin mormane de alge făcute căpiţă pe ţărm, fiindcă, da, sunt şi locuri cu alge. Ei bine, dar sunt şi locuri fără. Asta e minunea Thassos-ului. Şi legenda lui, alături de atâtea alte legende. Credibile sau nu. Verosimile sau nu. Legenda Mânăstirii Sfântul Mihail, despre care am pomenit în avans. Se spune că, acolo, Arhanghelul îi trăsneşte pe cei care vin cu gânduri necurate. Sau (şi) pe cei păcătoşi, cu inima nepocăită. E un tunel îngust, de câţiva metri (poate chiar zeci de metri) prin care umblă de-a buşilea cei care se căiesc. Se află şi un izvor, a cărei poveste ghidele o spun zâmbind cu gura până la urechi. E povestea izvorului despre care muierile şoptesc că e viagra curată. Este şi povestea unui căpitan de vas care a venit şi, în loc doar să bea din izvor, s-a scăldat cu totul. Apoi a venit, în fiecare dimineaţă, ceva mai obosit la vapor, pentru că noaptea era foarte solicitat de ibovnică. Şi secătuit. Acum, stăm şi noi, secătuiţi, sub umbreluţe. În priză directă. Ghidul nostru a plecat, dar suntem pe mâinile bune ale ghiduşelor Adriana Apostolescu şi Lavinia Sfârloagă. Cred că ne şi puteţi vedea (în caz că vreţi) direct pe Google Earth? Ce ziceţi? Nu-i aşa? Iată, avem pe masă un frappé, o bere Mythos (mitul simplu, al locului) şi o apă minerală Loutraki. Suntem imaginea însăşi a vacanţei. În spatele nostru, la cincizeci de metri, e o tavernă, AKROGIALI, unde îţi torni ouzo, în venă, gratuit. Ospitalitate grecească. De Thassos. În dreapta, muntele. Şi, în spate, tot muntele, la mai puţin de un kilometru, învăluit în ceaţă. Asta e. Mai mult nici nu vă spunem. Nici nu ne permitem. Ce îţi poţi dori mai mult?

The very fact that the Giants (in other words, Brian Sabean) dont realize what kind of value Fred Lewis has is the EXACT thing thats holding our franchise back. Its the root cause for our signing overpriced, overaged veterans and running a shitty offense out there year in and year out. Its the root cause for our undervaluing the attributes that actually lead to runs, that is, not making an out on offense. The fact that Fred Lewis is sitting on the bench is crazy, is stupid, is beyond a fireable offense. If I was running another team in MLB who needed a corner outfielder, Id trade for Lewis in a heartbeat, you know it wouldnt take much to get him from Sabean. Lewis is a very good value baseball player that will help his team win baseball games.
