Am trăit cu iluzia, probabil confortabilă, a victoriei spiritului asupra sistemului, a ideii asupra cenzurii, a individului asupra birocraţiei. Victoria a venit, însă, în general foarte târziu pentru acel spirit, acea idee şi mai ales acel individ, şi nu a servit decât la progresul sistemului, la triumful birocraţiei, la perpetuarea cenzurii.

Mulţimea manipulată a generat cele mai cumplite momente ale existenţei omeneşti, fiind practic autoarea oricărei monstruozităţi a istoriei. în acelaşi timp, însă, trebuie să acceptăm că tot mulţimea manipulată este autoarea majorităţii faptelor colective ce au dus la progresul uman. Întâi am primit un telefon de la o autoare de-a noastră: Nu v-ar interesa un volum despre manipulare, semnat de Bogdan Teodorescu? Am răspuns: Cum să nu! Apoi am vorbit împreună la telefon. Oficial, elegant. Am stabilit de comun acord o întâlnire. La noi la sediu.

A sosit. Ne-am strâns mâinile. I-am oferit un loc pe canapea şi un pahar cu apă. Am început să discutăm. Vreo două ore. Cărţi, călătorii, gastronomie… CINCI MILENII DE MANIPULARE, Cape Town şi Africa în general, romanul SPADA, volume cu amintiri din locuri speciale, contractul de editare, idei de copertă, din nou despre manipulare şi apoi reţete culinare…

Vi se pare haotic?

Greşit! O conversaţie plăcută, coerentă, elegantă şi eficientă.

Ne-am strâns mâinile din nou şi a plecat.

Peste trei zile am semnat contractul. După încă zece, volumul a plecat la tipar. Îl găsiţi în librării din 15 noiembrie. Lectură plăcută.
